Acupuncture

Summary

Tried and tested over the last 4000+ years in Eastern Asian culture, Acupuncture comes from a framework that is very different to that of western medicine. This form of medicine uses terms such as Yin, Yang, Qi, and Wu Xing (five elements) but to understand simply what the medicine aims for when treating illness, you do not need to use these terms. In a very simple understanding, Acupuncture aims to restart the self-healing process within your body, strengthening parts of your body that is weak and releasing tension in your body for better circulation, i.e., balancing the human condition into a more efficient and healthy state. Even for something as simple as pulling a muscle, you will need to consider the internal weakness as well as the tensions that lead up to the moments before your muscle became pulled.

Acupuncture is also good for mental health conditions because of the 'holistic' nature of the medicine. Within this framework, the mental mind is also the physical body, meaning that there is no distinction between the two as they may do in western biomedicine.
